About Shrimp Industries

Shrimp Industries is the official name for my ( Luke "Shrimp" Kabat ) sole proprietorship. Under this formal name I solo develop games and software. Occasionally I seek assistance from commissioned artists, especially for promotional materials (as I'm not too good of an artist 😅). However, I enjoy doing the vast majority of the work on games and projects by myself.

I live in Warsaw, Poland and try to blend my day job with GameDev career. My interest in game development started way back in primary school when I began messing with existing games - from scripting, modding and map-making to hacking and reverse engineering. Once I enrolled in Warsaw University of Technology, I started making my own projects and games in Unity - mostly non-commercial projects for my own benefit and experience. I got engineering degree in Electronics and Masters in IT. Since then I worked in a couple programming fields for my day jobs - programmer of radar software, process automation engineer, game programmer for a small indie studio.

Roll The Bones

Brief game description

Roll The Bones is a fast-paced, pixelart roguelite focusing on a unique mix of fantasy theme with dice-rolling mechanics and arcade elements. Players complete increasingly more difficult dungeons and challenges by customizing their spell-dice used throughout the runs. Each dice side has a spell and once it's used up the dice is rerolled. Addition of behavior altering dice-materials, ult-like artifacts and various upgrades provides extreme replayability potential.

Additional game info

Spell-dice: Spell-dice are the backbone of the game. Player chooses a set of 4 spell-dice before starting each run. Dice have up to 6 different spells on each side, each spell can have different number of uses. Once spell is used up, dice is rerolled. With reroll taking some time, player is encouraged to switch between the 4 equipped dice dynamically. Throughout the run, player will upgrade the dice - by levelling individual spells, exchanging them completely or upgrading dice materials. The latter option changes behavior of the dice when Crit is rolled. Default materials alter basic stats like damage or reload time while more powerful materials can add various effects to spells like lightning strike or meteor summon.

Artifacts: In addition to spell-dice, players can use powerful Artifacts. To power them up, player needs to gather arcade score by performing quick kills or doing combos. More flow = more opportunities to use artifacts.

Levels: Game consists of several, multi-floor dungeons ending with boss fights. For those runs players usually have a lot of freedom when it comes to choosing their unique starting loadout of spell-dice and artifacts. Crafting a well-balanced backpack of spells makes dealing with specific enemies easier. Besides dungeons map is filled with additional challenges that present difficult, single-floor levels and offer limited choice of spell-dice. Player needs to adapt to the conditions and fight against odds.

Enemies: Based on fantasy theme, game is filled with basic enemies such as slimes, rats, skeletons as well as more powerful ones like demons and angels. Enemies also use spell-dice to attack the player - rolling the dice may result in weaker or more powerful attacks.
